The Kastaplast K1 Stal is an overstable fairway driver and is named for it’s toughness. Stal, the Swedish name for steel, was once a common solidier’s name. This tradition was started in the sixteenth century when the Swedish military named their soldiers. Stalmannen is the Swedish name for Superman! So with steel built right into it’s name, you can see that the Stal is one tough disc golf driver!

Flight Ratings: Speed 9, Glide 4, Turn 0, Fade 3

About the plastic: K1 Line is Kastaplast’s super durable material that has a nice combination of firmness and gumminess. Disc golf discs in the K1 Line have both solid and translucent colors.

Better-Feeling Firebird

I, like most people, started out throwing a Firebird for my overstable fairway driver slot. I loved the flight, but it never felt super comfortable in my hand.

On a whim, I bought my wife a Stal because she needed a disc in that slot, and after borrowing it for a round, fell in love with how it felt in the hand.

For me, while the flight numbers are similar, the flight between the Stal and Firebird are virtually identical. The only difference is the feel. The K1 Plastic, being softer/gummier, and the mold shape in general, just feels perfect in my hand, especially forehands.

It does exactly what you need out of a beefy 9-speed. Fantastic flex lines, and you can throw it into a headwind without any fear of it turning over.

If you like K1 or Clash Steady plastic and are looking to fill this slot, I highly recommend giving the Stal a shot.
