The Animus is a high performance distance driver with a moderately overstable flight pattern. It handles torque well when thrown by experienced players, but does not have so much fade that it is unmanageable by recreational players who need an overstable driver in their bag. It has been compared to a cross between an Innova Wraith and Thunderbird.
This is the Matt Bell signature edition, and by all accounts is a more mellow version of the Animus, with a very true flight. reliable fade, but without being a complete meathook!
Flight Ratings: Speed 11, Glide 5, Turn 0, Fade 2
About the plastic: Aura is the equivalent of MVP's Neutron, as these are produced in the same factory. It is an Opaque blend of premium polymers that offer extremely good durability and hand feel. Largest selection of bright colors. These have a decent amount of flex to them, but are on the stiffer side of something like an Innova Star plastic. Typically this is a plastic that is “true to flight numbers”, but it still depends on run to run.
The Animus is one of my favorite discs. Great for long open courses or tight wooded ones. Feels fantastic forehand and backhand, goes straight for days before a nice, dependable but not crazy fade. I have it in almost every plastic but Aura is probably my favorite. Happy to support Matt Bell also!
