MVP Detour Understable Midrange

The MVP Detour is the 4th disc in the James Conrad line. It's a buttery smooth understable midrange that was released in the 2023 Gyropalooza Boxes. From then fans went wild trying to get these discs into their bags. Finally, they're available in larger quantities!

In January 2021 James moved from Innova over to MVP Disc Sports! On his arrival, MVP announced that they would be creating a line of molds specifically developed to suit his game!

Since that time the MVP James Conrad line has resulted in 5 new molds! The MVP Detour is the 4th. The others include the Nomad, Terra, Zenith, and Trail.

This disc is so many things. One of its best attributes is its super smooth turnovers. On top of this, it's also a great disc for hyzer flips and tunnel shots! You can dig deeper into how this disc flies in our MVP Detour flight review.

Otherwise, this video from TK Disc Golf is awesome!

Flight Numbers

Speed: 5

Glide: 5

Turn: -2

Fade: 1

In our opinion, MVP is pretty much spot on with their flight numbers for the Detour. When released flat it has a slow panning turn, and eventually comes back with a small fade at the end!

Flight Path Chart

Here's an MVP Detour flight chart to give you a basic idea of how it's going to fly!

As you can see there's a gentle turn and fade. If you're interested in digging deeper into how it flies you can read our MVP Detour review.

Plastics

At the moment the Detour is only available in MVP's grippy Neutron plastic. While we only have one plastic at this point, the stamp situation is a little better. You can pick up a stock run Detour, the James Conrad Team Series edition, or even our first-ever custom-stamped Bridge To Gnomewhere mold!

Neutron is a grippy plastic that generally comes in bright vibrant colors. It has great durability as well. You can check out all our MVP Neutron discs here.

Skill Recommendations

Beginner: Beginners will love how easy this disc is to throw! We highly recommend you try one of these out!

Intermediate: This is one of the best intermediate-level discs on the market right now! We have no doubt that it'll be one of your go-to's for wooded rounds!

Advanced: Even advanced players will love the Detour despite the understability! James Conrad uses it for turnovers, to fill the gap created by his avoidance of sidearms. If you're also not a forehand fan then you'll fall in love with this disc!
