Discraft Buzzz | Midrange Disc

The Buzzz is still the most popular midrange in the world! That raises the question, why? The Buzzz has the ideal midrange flight, straight with a moderate yet reliable fading finish! Discraft's consistency means that it's maintained these great characteristics through the years!

They can handle most players' full power and can be cycled through different stages of wear for multiple flight paths. Here at DGD, like everyone else, we're huge fans of the Discraft Buzzz.

The Buzzz brings consistency and accuracy to your game like only a true "workhorse midrange" can! Read on to learn what makes it so awesome!

Discraft Buzzz Review

The Buzzz flies very straight with the smallest touch of turn in the early stage of its flight. Then as it comes to the end it finishes with a moderate and dependable, forward-pushing fade! This makes it consistent, accurate, far-flying, and workable, everything you should be looking for in a go-to mid.

The Discraft Buzzz has enough glide to get it to where you want it. Any more and it would start to lose accuracy and wind resistance.

Backhands

The Buzzz is primarily a backhand disc. It's what players like to call a workhorse midrange. You can shape just about any shot with it, which helps your consistency even more as you're sticking to one mold, instead of using 3!

Players of all skill levels can use the Buzzz for backhand shots. It's a great disc to improve your backhand form with, and you're likely to stick with it after that!

Forehands

The Buzzz is a great disc for touchy and straight sidearm midrange shots! While many players do not have the form to sidearm midranges, the Buzzz is a great disc to learn with! It has the stability out of the box to handle a fair amount of torque and power. It's also slightly shallower than most mids, so it comes out of the hand nicely!

Feel

The Buzzz feels very similar to other stable midranges. It's very comfortable in the hand, whether you use a fan grip or a power grip! It's also not super deep, helping you to consistently achieve a clean releaseOn the flight plate, Buzzz's gently rise up to a flat top.

Discraft Buzzz Flight Numbers

Flight Numbers

Speed: 5

Glide: 4

Turn: -1

Fade: 1

In our experience, Discraft's flight numbers on the Buzzz are slightly off. We've consistently found it to be a little stabler than suggested! We take the turn down to -0.5 and put the fade up to a 2. If you want a straighter Buzzz get one in Jawbreaker. These beat in quickly to become very straight fliers!

Discraft Buzzz Plastics and Special Editions

Discraft ESP Buzzz: ESP has a great feel to it and is comparable to Innova Star. It tends to get gummier with age and beats in slowly and steadily. ESP Buzzz's are generally the most overstable, but this can vary from run to run.

Discraft Big Z Buzzz: Discraft Big Z is a blend of Z and ESP. Big Z Buzzz's offer you great grip, and a decent amount of flexibility!

Z Buzzz: Discraft's Z-line plastic is very durable and similar to most other translucent plastics. Z Buzzz's are stable, generally slightly stiffer, and retain these characteristics for a long time!

Jawbreaker Buzzz: Jawbreaker is such an awesome plastic throwing it almost feels like cheating! The grip is amazing and it beats in perfectly for disc cycling. If you love Buzzz's buy one in Jawbreaker and beat it in to be your understable version!

History

The Discraft Buzzz is an immovable piece of disc golf history! It's generally considered the most popular disc of all time, and is most certainly the most popular mid! It was PDGA-approved way back in 2003, and has since spawned, SS, OS, and GT versions!
