Discraft Passion

Fairways have finally found their match with the new Paige Pierce Passion! The Discraft Passion is a perfectly neutral fairway driver that mixes distance and control in a workable mold. Players will find this 8-speed cruising through tight wooded gaps and flying by their distance drivers.

In our personal Passion review, we found the disc to fly dead straight, matching the -1 turn and 1 fade ratings Discraft gave it. As far as flight and distance potential goes, the Passion has the ability to outclass faster discs such as an Anax or even an Undertaker due to its high glide and ability to carry and float.

Here’s what Discraft has to say about the Passion:

The Passion is a Paige Pierce branded fairway driver with a straight flight and a unique flat outer rim configuration. It is very similar to the classic Discraft Cyclone but with less of a bead, tuning it for a straighter, more dependable flight for precision placement on the fairway.

Discraft Passion Flight Numbers

Speed: 8

Glide: 5

Turn: -1

Fade: 1

Discraft Stability Rating: 1.0

The Discraft Passion is, for many players, one of the most neutral and workable fairway drivers available at disc golf stores today. The 8 glide is represented perfectly in this disc and it is useful in shots where “reachable distance” is needed.

As mentioned above, we believe that the -1/1 turn to fade rating is well represented in the Discraft Paige Pierce Passion and this is normally true in most weather conditions aside from headwinds. The only area where the Passion may be misrepresented is in its glide. The Passion is capable of ridiculous distance for only being an 8-speed and for that reason, we would give this disc a 6 glide, rather than the listed 5.

Plastics for the Passion

Z: The Passion comes available in specific Z runs, such as Fly Dye and Midnight Z. These runs of Paige Pierce Passion are often a touch more overstable and torque resistant than ESP and Z lite offerings.

Z Lite: Coming in at weights as low as the high 140’s and mid 150-gram weights, Discraft’s Z Lite Passions are the perfect option for beginner players who prefer fairway drivers to distance drivers. In many situations where distance and control are key, having a lighter, flipper Passion may help penetrate guarded greens much easier than something max weight.

ESP: The initial release of Paige Pierce Passion came in ESP plastic. These runs of Passion are about as neutral as they get and can be cycled as they wear in. They have great grip and feel just as nice in cold and hot conditions.

Jawbreaker Z FLX: Discraft’s 2024 Tour Series used Z FLX plastic mixed with colorful Jawbreaker plastic. The result was a firm but flexible feel that looks amazing. The Jawbreaker Z FLX Passion tends to be slightly more torque-resistant than the ESP runs.

Discraft Passion Skill level recommendations

Beginner: Beginners struggling with distance drivers should absolutely grab a Paige Pierce Passion from our disc golf store. Beginners may be able to manipulate this disc onto lines without the worry of burning it over. For slower arm speeds, definitely try the Z Lite run of Passion!

Intermediate: From intermediate and up, the Passion should be able to fit into anyone’s bag. The fairway driver flies as far as its faster speed cousins and is supremely workable, making it perfect for tight gaps and long bombs.

Advanced: Take it from Ezra Aderhold and Brodie Smith that it’s always a Passion. Discraft touring pros have flocked to the Passion for tailwind drives and tunnel shots that need big distance. If you’ve got control to match your arm speed, the Passion will do as you ask without fail.
