Discmania Method Overstable Midrange

The Discmania Method is an overstable midrange that fills the popular Buzzz, Roc3 slot for Discmania fans. It's one of the most popular discs in Discmania's Evolution line. Latitude 64 manufactures the Evolution line in Sweden.

To be granular the Method is a combination of the Buzzz and the Roc3.

Discmania Method Review

Let's get into how the Method flies, feels, and improves your disc golf scores! It's been a hit with Discmania fans and disc golfers in general since its inception into Discmania's evolution line.

The Method won't hold any line you put it on, but it'll hold most! It's a touch more overstable than a Buzzz, so it doesn't have as powerful shot-shaping abilities.

We've found the Discmania Method to be a great compliment to a Buzzz. It's handy to have when you need a touch more stability for wind or accuracy.

It's a little less stable than its better-known brother the Innova Roc3. If you want something with a little more glide and neutrality than a Roc3 then this will be your cup of tea!

Backhands

The Method excels as your go-to backhand mid. It has a straight flight with a reliable forward-pushing fade at the end when released flat.

If you want to throw some controlled sweeping hyzers this disc is the proven Method! It's stability and high glide makes it perfect. Just release with a hyzer angle adjusted to your power levels.

Unless you season a Method well it's not a great choice for turnovers or hyzer flips. If you throw it on a substantial anhyzer you'll get a wide sweeping turnover that flattens out at the end of the flight.

Forehands

The Method is great for sidearms if you enjoy flicking midranges, just get the right one! The Special Edition Vapor Methods from the mystery boxes were domier, which can make a smooth release tricky. The baseline plastics like and EXO Method and even the premium NEO are much flatter, and cleaner out of the hand.

Methods have enough stability to handle sidearm torque while remaining neutral enough to be extremely versatile!

While it can work, if you're a Discmania fan looking for a forehand approach disc you're probably going to be happier with a Tactic.

Feel

The Method has a feel most similar to the Roc3. It has a blunted nose, a curved in rim, and a small bead. It feels a little deeper than both the Buzzz and Roc3.

When throwing backhand we find the Discmania Method to be comfortable in a fan grip and a power grip. If you hold it in a sidearm grip it does feel a little deeper than you'd like it to be.

Discmania Method Flight Numbers

Flight Numbers

Speed: 5

Glide: 5

These numbers are just about spot on for the Method. It does have a touch more glide than a Roc3. If you have some power you might find the 3 fade to be more like a 2 or a 2.5.

Plastics

NEO: This is one of the most amazing feeling premium disc golf plastics in the world right now! For this reason, Neo Methods are the most common choice. You can expect them to last, feel great, and fly beautifully!

EXO: Essentially Discmania's EXO is their baseline plastic. You only want an EXO Method if you're looking to cycle them, or you want something with a very flat top. Not very durable.

Vapor Lux: These Methods were widespread in Discmania's famous mystery boxes. They tend to be domier, while the plastic is durable with eye-catching swirls.

History

The Method was PDGA approved in May 2019. The Evolution line itself was only launched in 2019. It was among the first molds released in Discmania's Evolution line.

It's been fairly popular from its release, and viewed by many as preferable to favorites such as the Buzzz, Roc3, Compass, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Method good in the wind?

The Method is a great disc to have in your bag for gusty rounds. It has enough stability to handle headwinds. You'll also find most to be flat on top, which helps them cut through wind.

Is the Method good for backhand?

The Method is a backhand go-to for any shot when control, consistency, and accuracy are crucial! Its dependable flight allows you to throw the same shots over and over again!

Is the Method good for forehand?

If you get a flat-topped Method it'll make a nice forehand midrange. If it's domey you might struggle to get a clean release. If you're looking for something specifically for sidearm approaches you will probably prefer the Discmania Tactic.
