Discmania Tactic Overview

The Discmania Tactic is an overstable putt & approach disc from Discmania with flight numbers of 4/2/0/3. The Tactic comes in a number of Discmania plastic options like Soft Exo, Hard Exo, Extra Soft Vapor Exo, Meta, and more. The Tactic was introduced in 2020 and is produced under the Discmania Evolution line. The approach disc has a low glide and high stability making it a perfect touch and finesse oriented disc.

Discmania Extra Soft Vapor Plastic Review

Close up of the Extra Soft Exo Vapor Plastic on a discmania tactic

The Discmania Extra Soft Vapor Plastic is a highly flexible and ultra-grippy soft plastic. The plastics' flexibility allows the disc to be bent without warping the mold. We found this plastic to give a more neutral flight compared to a Meta Tactic and it allowed for straighter lines through wooded fairways. The Extra Soft Vapor plastic would be perfect for players in colder climates who still want a softer hand feel in all weather conditions.

Discmania Extra Soft Exo Vapor Tactic overstable approach disc

The Extra Soft Vapor Tactic is a straighter flying cousin to the other Tactics and therefore will fit perfectly in your bag. We found in testing that the Extra Soft Vapor Tactic performed best on both open and wooded holes. We found ourselves reaching for this approach disc in instances where too much overstability wasn’t needed and the line to the target was straight with a subtle turn right or left.

In the wind, the Extra Soft Vapor Tactic flew true to its overstable flight path with a predictable subtle stand-up in headwinds. Overall the disc takes the next leap in overstability compared to a Discmania Maestro but was a touch less stable than a Razor Claw Tactic. The Tactic fits perfectly in the hand for forehands and is a great approach disc for those players not wanting the stability of a Razor Claw or Mutant

Discmania Extra Soft Vapor Tactic Comparisons

The Discmania Extra Soft Vapor Tactic compares most similarly to a Jawbreaker Zone regarding plastic feel and disc flight. This version of the Tactic flies mellow and opens up lines similar to the Jawbreaker Zone, which is a straighter version of other Zone plastics. We imagine in long-term testing the Extra Soft Vapor Tactic will beat in to be straight similar to a Jawbreaker Zone.

A similar disc with less stability would also be the Harpoon in Delta 1 plastic from Lone Star Discs. The Lone Star Harpoon has flight numbers of 4/3/0/2, giving it a straighter flight than the Discmania Tactic with the same speed and low glide. Similar to the Extra Soft Vapor Tactic feel, the Lone Star Delta 1 plastic is flexible and gummy in all weather conditions.
