Discraft Zone GT Battle Pack Overview
For the first time in disc golf history, the customers will now get to decide which disc they want to be made. How? Discraft recently released the Zone GT Battle Pack, which includes two discs: the Ringer GT Zone and the Banger GT Zone. Both discs come in Discraft’s Z plastic and feature a sweet Test Flight stamp. After purchasing the pack, customers are asked to scan the QR codes on the back and decide which disc is their favorite. The disc with the most votes is brought into production. The one with the least votes gets canned.
Discraft Ringer and Banger Overview
The ideas for the Zone GT Battle Pack discs came from the original Discraft Ringer GT and Banger. The Ringer GT is similar to an Innova Pig or Dynamic Discs Slammer, as it features a large thumb track along the rim. The Discraft Banger features a large circular groove in the center of the flight plate, which aids in adding grip for the backhand grip. Both discs tend to fly under the radar due to some of the more popular Discraft molds, but are beloved by players that bag them.
Discraft Ringer GT Zone Review
If you love the Discraft Zone but wish it were more overstable and you love the Discraft Zone OS but wish it were a little more understable, the Discraft Ringer GT Zone is the perfect disc for you. We found that in testing, the Ringer GT Zone reviewed as a more overstable Z Zone and was highly predictable in all conditions. This version fit as a bookend as the most overstable Zone in our bag. The fit in hand was preferable in the forehand, particularly in the stacked two finger powergrip.
Discraft Banger GT Zone Review
Sometimes a weird disc comes out and you’ve got to have it - like the Innova Alien. You’re not sure why you like the disc or what the appeal is but it's somehow made your bag. The Discraft Banger GT Zone is precisely that type of disc. The circular groove in the center of flight plate somehow makes perfect sense and fits extremely well with how the disc flies. In our Banger GT Zone review we found the disc to be the backhand specific Zone we’ve always wanted and the stable (but not too overstable) flight made controlling the disc a breeze.
Discraft Zone GT compared to the Discraft Zone
Comparing the Zone GT Battle Pack discs to the regular Discraft Zone is difficult. If we’re looking at a standard Z Zone, the three discs don’t compare but rather fit together perfectly. For one, the Discraft Banger GT Zone is a faithful, backhand Zone that flies a bit straighter than a fresh Z Zone. A standard Z Zone flies a bit more stable and is more reliable in a forehand grip. And lastly, the Discraft Ringer GT Zone is perfect in the hand for forehands and is more stable than the other two. Our opinion? Buy the Discraft Zone GT Battle Pack and bag both discs along with a Z Zone. You can thank us later.
