Axiom Defy Overstable Distance Driver

The Axiom Defy is an overstable 11-speed with a flight much like that of the highly popular Innova Wraith! It has a straight and glidey flight with a dependable fading finish.

It's experienced a surge in popularity recently since Simon's joining Team MVP. The Defy is one of Lizotte's favorite Axiom distance drivers.

Out of the box, the Defy is fairly stable, but once seasoned you can expect to get a little turn out of it for longer distance.

Another awesome thing about the Axiom Defy is that it's a great disc to throw backhand and forehand!

Here's what MVP Disc Sports has to say about the Defy:

The Defy is straight with a nice bite of overstability at the end, and is best described as a more stable MVP Photon or a longer Axiom Clash. Like the Clash the Defy exhibits remarkable resistance to turnover even at high power. Players seeking a long straight power driver will appreciate the line-locking tendencies of the Defy, and throwers not fully powering the Defy will still get a highly useable long overstable disc.

Flight Numbers

Speed: 11

Glide: 5

Turn: -1

Fade: 3

This disc might be little more stable when it is brand new! We'd say that you can take the turn down to a 0 if you're throwing around 350 feet. Once it beats in the Defy will be an absolute bomber!

Plastics

Proton: Highly durable and translucent. Proton Defys may be a little more stable than Neutron. You can read our Proton Plastic Review to learn more.

Neutron: Grippy and durable these Axiom Defys are accurate to flight numbers. You can read our Neutron plastic review for more information.

Fission: This is MVP's microbubble plastic. With this technology you can get lighter discs, producing a less overstable flight. These will generally be the most understable Defy you can get. You can learn more about this amazing plastic in our Fission plastic review.

Skill recommendations

Beginner: Steer clear of the Defy if you are new to the sport of disc golf! This is a fast and overstable disc. Rather get something slower like a putter or a mid. Also, aim for something understable and with high glide.

Intermediate: The Defy is a great disc for intermediate disc golfers! You'll love the straight flight and dependable fade, whether you're throwing backhand or sidearm!

Advanced: This disc is perfect for players with a lot of power who want to dial down on accuracy and consistency. Its moderate overstability means it flies far but remains reliable. The slightly slower speed when compared to other drivers also makes it a little more controllable. We highly recommend trying one of these out for sidearms and backhands!
