GYROpalooza 2026 Preview: Predictions, Release Date & What Fans Want

GYROpalooza season is almost here! Every fall MVP Disc Sports drops its mystery box, and every fall it sells out. So we did our homework early: what could actually be in the 2026 box?

To find out, we combined four things: MVP’s own announcements and 2026 release calendar, the PDGA’s newest approvals, a tally of every comment in our 2026 Reddit giveaway, and a look back at the last five boxes (plus a hard look at how our own past predictions held up).

Update – October 9, 2026: MVP has not yet announced the 2026 digital box. We’ll update this post the moment the lineup, price and date are official. The in-person GYROpalooza is set for October 24, 2026 at MVP HQ.

Let’s dive in!

Discs About 11: 3–5 Special Editions, 2 R2 Neutron, 4–6 Lab Seconds Based on 3 straight 11-disc boxes

What’s Confirmed (and What Isn’t)

There’s a lot of GYROpalooza chatter right now, so let’s separate fact from speculation.

Confirmed by MVP and the PDGA

Reported, but not confirmed

Several retailers are reporting that MVP has said in-person attendees will receive a prototype Mass and a Particle Proton Control with an Eclipse rim in their event packs. We couldn’t find that on MVP’s own site, so treat it as unconfirmed. Retailers are also describing the Mass as a slower, more overstable take on the Tempo, but MVP hasn’t published official flight numbers.

Not announced yet

  • The digital box release date and price
  • The guaranteed Special Edition lineup
  • Whether the 2026 boxes will carry Golden Tickets

Release Date

MVP hasn’t announced the 2026 digital box date. Here’s how timing has looked in the past:

Year What happened
2022 Released November 11
2023 Released October 18
2024 Released in November
2025 Pre-orders opened around October 22; boxes shipped on Black Friday, November 28 (per retailer listings)

Our prediction: the announcement lands in the second half of October, with pre-orders opening around the same time as the October 24 event. Boxes most likely ship around Black Friday weekend (November 27, 2026), just like 2025. An earlier drop is possible, but the last two years point to late November.

The easiest way not to miss it is to hit “Notify Me When Back in Stock” on the product page. These sell out fast.

Price

Value is a big part of the GYROpalooza appeal. The 2021 box worked out to about $17 per disc. Since 2022, MVP has held it to roughly $11–$12 per disc, which is far cheaper than buying limited runs individually.

The 2025 box was an 11-disc box that retailers listed anywhere from $119.95 to $129.99, or about $10.90–$11.82 per disc. With costs only moving one direction, our best guess for 2026 is $129.95–$139.95 for an 11-disc box, or roughly $11.80–$12.70 per disc.

A note on our track record here: last year we predicted $130–$170 and the real price came in lower. We’re tightening the range this time.

What’s Inside a GYROpalooza Box: Past Boxes

MVP follows a loose formula. Here’s every box since 2021:

Year Release Price Discs Guaranteed Special Editions Also in the box Per disc
2021 Retailer-specific $120 7 Neutron Uplink (Gyropalooza stamp); Eclipse Inertia (Glow Proto stamp, MVP’s first blue glow disc) 5 Lab Seconds $17.14
2022 Nov 11 $160 14 Total Eclipse Proxy; Prototype Color Eclipse Envy 12 Lab Seconds $11.43
2023 Oct 18 $130 11 5 triple-foil SEs: Eclipse Rim R2 Neutron Envy, Hex and Crave; Eclipse 2.0 Glitch; SE Neutron James Conrad Detour 4 Lab Seconds + 2 Pro Shop discs $11.82
2024 Nov $119.95 11 Simon Line Prototype Neutron Balance; SE Total Eclipse Color Glow Parachute; SE Total Eclipse Vanish (color glow rim) 6 Lab Seconds + 2 R2 Neutron $10.90
2025 Pre-orders ~Oct 22, shipped Nov 28 $119.95–$129.99 (varies by retailer) 11 Particle Glow Proton Particle (out-of-production revival); 10th Anniversary Neutron Wave; Particle Glow Proton Pyro; Plasma Echo 2 R2 Neutron + 5 Lab Seconds. 100 Golden Tickets hidden in boxes. Brick-and-mortar dealers also got a 17-disc version. $10.90–$11.82

The 2025 details come from https://mvpdiscsports.com/news/2025-gyropalooza-box/. Reading across five years, a few patterns stand out:

  • Every box has had a glow Special Edition. Eclipse in 2021–2024, Particle Glow Proton in 2025. That’s five for five.
  • The most common move is an existing fan favorite in a plastic it has never had (Total Eclipse Parachute, Plasma Echo, Particle Glow Proton Pyro).
  • There’s usually one “event” disc: a new-mold prototype (the Balance in 2024), a signature collab (the James Conrad Detour in 2023), or a revival and milestone (the out-of-production Particle and the 10th Anniversary Wave in 2025).
  • The structure is stable: 11 discs for three straight years, with 3–5 Special Editions, 2 R2s and 4–6 Lab Seconds.

What MVP Has Already Released in 2026

One of the best clues about the box is what MVP has already spent this year. We went through every monthly release page on https://mvpdiscsports.com/news/:

What the calendar tells us

  1. 2026 was the year of Proton. The entire OTB Open run (Delirium aside) was Proton, Particle Proton or Prism Proton, and the Halloween Trail is Particle Proton. Keep that in mind when you read the survey below.
  2. Several fan favorites are “spent.” The Trail, Control, Bokeh, Stasis, Boost, Aspect and Echo have all had a special edition or team series release this year. They could still show up, but MVP has less reason to headline them.
  3. Some molds haven’t had a limited release at all. we didn’t see a special edition or team series release on MVP’s January–September release pages for the Detour, Pixel, Pyro, Envy, Crave, Glitch, Wave, Ohm, Uplink, Resistor or Volt. (Hex only showed up as a PLC refresh and an OTB Open exclusive.)
  4. The Mass is the freshest thing in the building. In 2024, MVP put the Balance prototype in the box shortly after its PDGA approval. The Mass fits that pattern, though the reported attendee pack complicates it.

Our 2026 Reddit Survey

As we do every year, we ran a giveaway on r/discgolf asking one question: what are you hoping for in this year’s GYROpalooza box? The thread ran September 11–16, 2026 and drew 745 comments from 729 unique entrants. Hopefully MVP is reading!

Here’s a link to the Reddit post:

Discs Players Want Included in Gyropalooza 2026

Seventy-two different molds were named. Here are the top 12:

23

21
Hex

18
Wave

Trail: The king again, with 111 requests (152 comments mentioned it in total). The twist is the plastic: Eclipse and Plasma each came up nine times, Proton seven, glow six and Fission five. Fans want a Trail, just not necessarily the Particle Proton one they already have.

Bokeh: The surprise runner-up at 43 requests, up from nowhere in last year’s top 16. It debuted as a Simon Lizotte team series disc in January and went stock in May. Proton, glow and Particle glow versions led the asks.

Control: Third with 41 requests, and the plastic debate is Proton (12) versus Fission (7). One commenter simply wrote “Proton Control” and at least eleven others agreed.

Detour: 23 requests, and 16 of them asked for a Proton Detour. That’s the single most specific wish in the whole thread. One commenter wrote that they were “hoping they will finally drop Proton Detours.”

Pixel: 21 requests, and of the ones that named a plastic, 9 of 13 wanted glow. Hex: 18 requests. Wave: 15, and five of those specifically asked for lightweight Waves. Crave: 12. Autopilot: 11. Pyro and Watt: 10 each. Glitch: 9.

Rounding out the list: Ohm, Proxy, Reactor, Servo and Stasis (8 each), Envy (7), Range and Resistor (6), and Aspect, Balance, Tempo, Time-Lapse and Uplink (5 each).

What Changed Since Last Year

Raw counts are lower than last year because the 2025 thread had well over 1,200 comments to this year’s 745, so rank and share matter more than the totals. The 2025 figures are the ones we published last year.

Mold 2025 requests 2026 requests 2026 rank What happened
Trail 373 111 #1 Still on top, but named in about 1 in 5 comments vs. close to 3 in 10 last year
Bokeh Not in top 16 43 #2 Team series debut in January, stock release in May
Control Not in top 16 41 #3 Three separate 2026 releases kept it in the conversation
Detour 27 23 #4 Barely dipped while almost everything else fell
Pixel 46 21 #5 Fell, but held its top-five spot
Crave 68 12 #8 Fell from #2. Duplicate fatigue shows up in the comments
Balance 61 5 T-21 From #3 last year to a footnote
Tempo 46 5 T-21 Cooled off
Boost 41 3 T-31 Cooled off
Time-Lapse 37 5 T-21 Cooled off
Turbulence 22 0 – Not mentioned once

Plastics & Fan-Favorite Combos

Proton is the new Eclipse. Last year the plastic conversation was all Eclipse. This year Proton took over:

Plastic Commenters Share of entrants
Any glow (“glow”/“glo” or Particle) 125 17.1%
Proton 104 14.3%
Particle (glow) 53 7.3%
Eclipse 47 6.4%
Fission 38 5.2%
Plasma 23 3.2%
Neutron 16 2.2%
Electron 14 1.9%

And here are the specific mold-and-plastic combos people typed out most often (a floor, since we only counted a plastic when it sat right next to the mold):

Combo Commenters
Proton Detour 16
Proton Control 12
Fission Control 10
Eclipse Trail 9
Plasma Trail 9
Glow Pixel 7
Proton Trail 7
Proton Bokeh 6
Glow Trail 6
Glow Bokeh (plus 4 for “Particle Glow Bokeh”) 5
Fission Trail 5
Particle Trail 5

Smart Ideas

Disc golfers never disappoint with the creative stuff. A few of our favorites this year:

  • A stamp that’s only visible when the disc is glowing. Genuinely clever.
  • Micro tags built into discs to help find lost ones without affecting flight.
  • A Goose Gossage disc with a goose dressed as a referee, complete with zebra shirt, whistle and rulebook. Goose joined Team MVP in January, so who knows.
  • Spooky specials: a jack-o-lantern Trail, an “infected axolotl” Glitch, and a headless horseman throwing a flaming jack-o-lantern.
  • New plastics and materials: tie-dye, a duo-plastic experiment, and a disc that floats.
  • A Huk collab stamp on a Particle Glow Proton Wave.

Insights

A few themes ran through the thread:

  1. Proton is the plastic of the moment. 104 commenters named it (14%), more than double Eclipse (47). Two of the top three combos are Proton: Detour and Control.
  2. Glow is still the dominant theme. 125 commenters (17%) asked for glow or Particle. Another 11 specifically want more color glow, like orange, purple and neon. Gyropalooza lands right at glow-round season.
  3. New releases fuel the wish list. Bokeh and Control, both everywhere on MVP’s 2026 calendar, jumped into the top three.
  4. People want wild art. 43 commenters asked for cool stamps or artwork. One wanted better art throughout the box “instead of just a couple of the discs.”
  5. Lighter weights have a following. Twelve people asked for lightweight discs, led by lightweight Waves.
  6. A few are tired of repeats. Three commenters pushed back on duplicates, Crave/Hex overload and boxes that feel like a “stock purge.” Crave requests fell from 68 to 12.
  7. The pros matter. Thirteen people asked for a specific pro’s disc: Silas (the reigning World Champion) four times, Silva three, Simon two, plus Goose, Rainers Balotis, a Huk collab and Westside.
  8. People want a re-run. Thirteen asked MVP to bring something back: the Amp, Theory, Tangent and Tensor, Vector, Neutron Dimension, and a Fission Envy special edition.

Our 2026 GYROpalooza Predictions

Here’s how we built these. We started from the survey, then weighted it against MVP’s box history, the 2026 release calendar and the PDGA approvals. (As the scorecard below shows, the wish list alone is a poor guide to MVP’s actual picks, so we lean harder on the other three.)

The Box Itself

Prediction Confidence Why we think so
About 11 discs High 11 discs in 2023, 2024 and 2025
3–5 guaranteed Special Editions with multi-foil stamps High 5 in 2023, 3 in 2024, 4 in 2025
At least one glow Special Edition Very high Every box since 2021 has had one (5 for 5)
4–6 Lab Seconds High 4 (2023), 6 (2024), 5 (2025)
2 R2 Neutron discs Medium Two in 2024 and 2025, but with white GYRO rims now standard everywhere, the R2 may get a new twist
Golden Tickets return Medium 100 in 2025, and MVP says it will invite more fans this year. Unannounced
Price of $129.95–$139.95 Medium Retailers listed the 2025 box at up to $129.99, and costs only go up

The Discs

Prediction Confidence Why we think so
At least one Proton or Particle Proton Special Edition Medium–High 104 commenters want Proton, two of 2025’s four SEs were Particle Glow Proton, and MVP’s 2026 limited runs leaned Proton. (Only 1 of the previous 3 boxes had one, so this is trend-driven.)
An existing fan favorite in a plastic it has never had (a glow Hex, Envy or Pixel, a Proton Detour) Medium MVP’s most reliable move (Plasma Echo, Particle Glow Proton Pyro). Detour, Pixel, Envy and Pyro have had no limited release in 2026
A prototype of a new mold: the Mass Medium In 2024 the freshly approved Balance went in the box. But retailers report the prototype Mass is an attendee-pack item. Basically a coin flip
A Bokeh in a glow or premium plastic Low–Medium 43 requests, but the Bokeh already had an SE in May
A Hex or Envy special edition Low–Medium Both were skipped in 2025 and have fans asking for glow and Eclipse-rim versions
A Trail Special Edition Low It’s the #1 ask again, but it has had a team series release and a Halloween release this year, and it also topped the 2024 and 2025 surveys without becoming a box SE
A signature or commemorative disc for Silas Schultz or Goose Gossage Low–Medium Silas won the 2026 World Championship and Goose joined in January. Silas already got a Neutron Echo on September 21

Wild Cards

  • An out-of-production revival. The 2025 box brought back the Particle. Fans named the Amp, Theory and Neutron Dimension.
  • A milestone stamp. MVP gave the Wave a 10th Anniversary stamp last year. We couldn’t verify which molds turn 10 in 2026, so we’re leaving this off the main list.
  • An experimental plastic or surprise material. Fans have been asking for one for three years running.

Looking for something to scratch the itch while you wait? These are the 2026 favorites fans keep asking about: Trails, Controls, Bokehs, Detours, Pixels, Aspects and Photons.

How Did Our Past Predictions Hold Up?

We think it’s only fair to show our work, misses included. Here’s how our 2024 predictions and our 2025 predictions fared:

Year Our call (or the survey) What happened Verdict
2024 A Balance prototype would be in the box Simon Line Prototype Neutron Balance was in the box Hit
2024 2–6 SEs, 10–15 discs, $120–$170 3 SEs, 11 discs, $119.95 Hit
2024 We listed the Glitch, Pixel, Trail, Time-Lapse, Detour, Hex, Pyro, Tesla and Wave as likely None were SEs. The SEs were a Balance prototype, a Parachute and a Vanish Miss
2025 About 11 discs 11 discs Hit
2025 Glow plastics and Lab Seconds, no stock discs Two Particle Glow Proton SEs, 5 Lab Seconds, no stock discs Hit
2025 $130–$170 $119.95–$129.99 Too high
2025 Release in early to mid-November Pre-orders around Oct 22, shipped Nov 28 Partly
2025 Wave, Envy and Hex in special plastics The 10th Anniversary Wave yes; Envy and Hex no Partly
2025 Survey leaders: Trail, Crave, Balance, Pixel and Tempo None were Special Editions Miss

The takeaway: the survey is great at predicting styles (glow, Eclipse, Proton, signature stamps) and poor at predicting individual molds. In both years the survey’s top picks didn’t become the box’s Special Editions. That’s why our 2026 predictions are weighted toward MVP’s own calendar, approvals and box history. If you’re hoping for a Trail, we’d love to see it, but we wouldn’t bet on it.

What Probably Won’t Be in the Box

  • Standard stock discs. The box is built around exclusives, prototypes and Lab Seconds. You’ll still buy your stock Neutron workhorses from retailers.
  • The attendee-pack discs. If the reports hold, the prototype Mass and the Eclipse-rim Particle Proton Control are for the October 24 event. MVP has surprised us before, so don’t rule them out entirely.
  • This year’s Halloween headliners. Duplicating the Particle Proton Trail or the Eclipse Aspect that dropped in August would be a strange move.

Golden Tickets

The Golden Ticket is MVP’s way of turning the box into a lottery for the best disc golf fan event of the year. In 2025, 100 Golden Ticket 10-Year Neutron Waves were hidden in boxes with a special bottom stamp, and finding one unlocked access to the in-person GYROpalooza at MVP HQ (the box included instructions on how to claim it). MVP also ran a fan-survey sweepstakes as an alternate way in. In its https://mvpdiscsports.com/news/gyropalooza-2026-date-announcement/, MVP said 35 tickets were still unregistered or unopened.

For 2026, the promotion is unannounced. We expect it to return in some form, but we’ll update this post when MVP says more. We can’t tell you which boxes carry a ticket. They’re random.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will the 2026 GYROpalooza box be released?

MVP hasn't announced a date. Based on past years, we expect the announcement in the second half of October 2026 and boxes shipping around Black Friday weekend (November 27, 2026). In 2025, pre-orders opened around October 22 and boxes shipped on November 28.

How much will the 2026 GYROpalooza box cost?

MVP hasn't announced pricing. Retailers listed the 2025 box between $119.95 and $129.99, and we expect the 2026 box to land between $129.95 and $139.95 for about 11 discs, or roughly $11.80 to $12.70 per disc.

What discs will be in the 2026 GYROpalooza box?

The lineup hasn't been revealed. Based on the last three years, expect about 11 discs: 3 to 5 guaranteed Special Editions with multi-foil stamps, 2 R2 Neutron discs and 4 to 6 Lab Seconds. At least one Special Edition is very likely to be a glow plastic, and Proton is the plastic to watch.

How do Golden Tickets work?

In 2025, MVP hid 100 Golden Tickets (10-Year Neutron Waves with a special bottom stamp) in boxes. Each one unlocked access to the in-person GYROpalooza at MVP HQ. MVP hasn't said whether 2026 boxes will include Golden Tickets, but the 2026 event is October 24, 2026.

Will the new MVP Mass be in the 2026 GYROpalooza box?

It's possible but not confirmed. The PDGA approved the Mass on August 31, 2026, and MVP put the freshly approved Balance prototype in the 2024 box. However, retailers report that a prototype Mass will be in the in-person event pack, so it may not appear in the digital box.

Will stock discs be included in the box?

No. GYROpalooza boxes focus on exclusive Special Editions, prototypes and Lab Seconds rather than standard production runs.

Will the 2026 GYROpalooza box sell out?

Based on every previous year, yes, and quickly. Click Notify Me When Back in Stock on the product page so you get an alert as soon as the box is available.
