The Best Innova Discs - Building an All Innova Bag

Ready to fill your bag with discs from the very first disc golf manufacturer? Innova started their journey in 1983 and has been pumping out the plastic for us ever since! We've used our years of disc golf experience to put together this list of the best Innova discs.

Whether you're just a huge fan, or you need an excuse to pick up some shiny new plastic, our list will direct you to the best Innova discs for sale today!

To keep things clean we've organized the list into sections.

  • Putting putters
  • Throwing putters
  • Midranges
  • Fairway drivers
  • Control drivers
  • Distance drivers

We aim to include a stable, understable, and overstable disc in each segment. This way you'll build the most well-rounded Innova bag possible!

See all our Innova discs here.

We've written flight reviews for a few of the discs included in this list. You can click on the links to read more about a disc, and to see all the plastics and special editions we have for sale!

  3. Large selection of plastic types.
  4. Endorsed by top pros such as Calvin Heimburg and Nate Sexton.
  5. Having one brand of disc golf discs in your bag makes you feel like a pro.
  6. If you feel like a pro you throw like one. (Believe at your own risk!)
shows the reason to build an all Innova bag with a pile of plastic for quality, discs for their wide selection, pro players throwing discs, and an innova plastic chart to show their wide plastic selection

Best Putting Putters

Let's start this list off where it matters most. On the green! We've filtered through the crowd to handpick the best Innova putters.

Aviar - Neutral and Beadless

Flight Numbers - 2 | 3 | 0 | 1

[product=innova-dx-aviar]

[/product]

The Innova Aviar is one of the most well-known disc golf putters. It's extremely common due to its inclusion in the Innova Starter Pack. These Aviars are typically in the 150-gram weight range, potentially putting players off the Aviar as a putter. Try one out in the 170-gram range and you'll change your mind!

Aviar's are straight and glidey when it comes to putting! This makes them amazing for those long circle 2 putts! On the downside, this can make them a little inconsistent, especially in the wind!

Looking for a little extra beef? Try out the Innova Whale.

KC Aviar - Overstable With a Bead

Flight Numbers - 2 | 3 | 0 | 2

[product=innova-kc-pro-aviar]

[/product]

If you're looking for a putter that's a more overstable and dependable version of the Aviar the KC Aviar is a great choice! It has a stronger fade for consistency on the green! It also has a bead, while the standard Aviar does not.

Best Throwing Putters

One of the most fun slots in any back is throwing putters! Everybody loves their favorite throwing putter! This list can help you find an Innova throwing putter that you will love! If you don't like any of these options we have an in-depth article on the best Innova throwing putters here.

Aviar3 - Backhand Drives

Flight Numbers - 3 | 2 | 0 | 2

[product=innova-xt-aviar3]

[/product]

The Aviar3 from Innova makes the perfect throwing putter for backhand drives! It has a shallow profile and lower glide. It can handle the power of a tee shot but with the accuracy of a slower-speed disc!

Nova - Backhand Approaches

Flight Numbers - 2 | 3 | 0 | 0

[product=innova-xt-nova]

[/product]

The Nova is an unusual disc! It is one of the few Innova discs to feature an overmold. It also has the strange knack of handling power despite its neutral flight ratings! Ask Paul McBeth what he thought of it when he used to play for Innova!

Pig - Forehand Approaches and Drives

Flight Numbers - 4 | 1 | 0 | 3

[product=innova-r-pro-pig]

[/product]

The Pig is one of the best forehand approach discs of all time. Ricky Wysocki was lethal with a Pig back in his Innova days. His straight forehand drives made the trickiest shots look basic! You can trust in the overstability and low glide of the Pig to handle your sidearm torque!

The Pig also features a thumbtack which many enjoy for grip. If you don't enjoy them try out the Rat, it's more like a Zone. For even more stability you can give Calvin Heimburg's Toro a throw.

Best Midranges

Midranges, possibly the most crucial section of your bag! Luckily for us, Innova has everyone more than covered with their comprehensive line of mids! We've picked out the best Innova midranges, Roc3 and Mako3 included!

Mako3 - Stable Midrange

Flight Numbers - 5 | 5 | 0 | 0

[product=innova-champion-mako3]

[/product]

The Innova Mako3 is straight and more! It's whatever you want it to be! A very versatile disc that will be your go-to on wooded courses. If you want a mid to hold any line you put it on the Mako3 is your mold!

It has a very comfortable rounded rim that feels great in the hand. The top is flat and the overall hand feel is shallow!

Read our Mako3 flight review here.

Roc3 - Overstable Midrange

Flight Numbers - 5 | 4 | 0 | 3

[product=innova-champion-roc3]

[/product]

The Roc3 has been so many players' workhorse mid, and quite likely it'll be yours too! It has just the right amount of stability, ensuring trust, yet maintaining distance! Consider picking one up in Champion for some extra stability. The Roc3 is one of Innova's best discs of all time!

Read our Roc3 flight review here.

Panther - Understable Midrange

Flight Numbers - 5 | 5 | -2 | 1

The Panther has the perfect amount of understability. Not too much, not too little. Throw it flat and it'll hold the turn throughout the flight. Hyzer flip it for ridiculously straight lines that make tunnel shots feel easy!

Best Fairway Drivers

Innova is currently producing 13 different fairway driver molds. Here are the three best ones.

Hawkeye - Stable Fairway Driver

Flight Numbers - 7 | 5 | -1 | 1

[product=innova-star-hawkeye]

[/product]

If you've ever thrown a TL you'll know that they are far more overstable than suggested by the flight numbers! Thankfully Innova brought out the Hawkeye! This is a straight fairway driver that will be the perfect blend of distance and accuracy in your bag!

TeeBird - Overstable Fairway Driver

Flight Numbers - 7 | 5 | 0 | 2

[product=innova-star-teebird]

[/product]

The Teebird is an old legend of disc golf! Its sustained popularity can be traced to its consistent moderately overstable flight. You can rely on the Teebird when accuracy has to come first! When the wind picks up it'll offer you the confidence needed. Plus it's also great for sidearms!

For more overstability try out an Eagle. For a faster, shallower, more forehand-suited disc try out a TeeBird3!

Read our TeeBird flight review here.

Leopard3 - Understable Fairway Driver

Flight Numbers - 7 | 5 | -2 | 1

[product=innova-star-leopard3]

[/product]

The Leopard3 is very similar to the Panther, just slightly faster. Once again it has just the right amount of turn! You can release it flat for long turnovers that don't come back, and hyzer flip it for tunnel shots that your Panther doesn't have the distance for!

Read our Leopard3 flight review here.

Best Control Drivers

Fast but not too fast, control drivers can often be overlooked. The truth is that they're crucial to filling the distance gap between your fairways and distance drivers!

Savant - Stable Control Driver

Flight Numbers - 9 | 5 | -1 | 2

[product=innova-champion-savant]

[/product]

The Savant is a lesser-known Innova disc, but don't let that put you off! It's a great neutral control driver with sold turn and fade back! Its great glide contributes to the impressive distance that can be achieved with this disc! This is the disc you go to when your fairways won't get there, but you don't feel the need for a full-on distance driver!

Thunderbird - Overstable Control Driver

Flight Numbers - 9 | 5 | 0 | 2

[product=innova-champion-thunderbird]

[/product]

The Thunderbird is one of the best Innova discs for forehand of all time! It has a flat top, a shallow profile, and a comfortable rim. The overstability is enough to take plenty of forehand torque, but still allows the Thunderbird to travel straight for the majority of the flight, finishing with a strong fade!

The Thunderbird also makes a great backhand driver! You can rely on it in the wind and for accuracy. It's much like a longer TeeBird!

Read our Thunderbird flight review here.

Firebird - Overstable Control Driver

Flight Numbers - 9 | 3 | 0 | 4

[product=innova-star-firebird]

[/product]

Next up is the beefy brother of the Thunderbird, the Firebird! This one is perfect for players with enviable sidearm power! It can take a ton of torque making it one of the most popular forehand discs on the market! Its flat top and shallow profile make it even more perfect for sidearms!

Players with less power will still find the Firebird useful for flex shots, thumbers, forehand rollers, and tomahawks!

Read our Firebird flight review here.

Sidewinder - Understable Control Driver

Flight Numbers - 9 | 5 | -3 | 1

[product=innova-gstar-sidewinder]

[/product]

The Sidewinder is a great understable driver that can also be used to learn how to throw forehand! Beware, some Sidewinders are considerably more overstable than you might think. Buy one in Gstar plastic, that's slightly lighter, with a flat top, and you should be good to go!

Read our Sidewinder flight review here.

Best Distance Drivers

disc golf driving range with baskets for players to throw the best innova distance drivers

You made it all this way! We're glad you did because we've been saving the best for last! These distance-craving monsters are waiting to break somebody's distance record! Maybe yours?

To cut the fluff, distance drivers have become an essential element in any player's bag with new courses getting longer and longer! You'll be pulling these discs out when it's time to birder some par 4s, and 5s!

Wraith - Stable Distance Driver

Flight Numbers - 11 | 5 | -1 | 3

[product=innova-pro-wraith]

[/product]

This list of the best Innova discs just wouldn't be complete without the Wraith. It's an extremely useful disc that can be used for a variety of purposes! Although Wraiths are a little overstable out of the box they beat in quickly, accentuating the turn, and become stable.

Wraiths are great for sidearms! They have plenty of turn, but retain that solid fade back. You can use them to cover an insane amount of ground! This is also due to the impressive glide!

As a backhand driver, the Wraith goes far, but the slower speed rim helps you to stay controlled!

Avoid Domey Champion Wraiths if you want something stable, they'll be overstable. For a more stable disc try Pro and Star.

Read our Wraith flight review here.

Destroyer - Overstable Distance Driver

Flight Numbers - 12 | 5 | -1 | 3

[product=innova-champion-destroyer]

[/product]

The Destroyer is undeniably one of the best Innova discs of all time! Just about every other brand has had to release a Destroyer clone to meet customer demand. Its overstable long-distance flight makes it a favorite to recreational and pro players alike!

Bagging multiple Destroyers is a common practice. You can beat them in, or experiment with different plastics. Domey Destroyers will be the most overstable, while flatter ones will be more understable!

You can use the Destroyer for max distance drives that require accuracy and consistency! It's also very popular as a forehand driver!

Read our Destroyer flight review here.

Tern - Understable Distance Driver

Flight Numbers - 12 | 6 | -3 | 2

[product=innova-star-tern]

[/product]

The Tern is an absolute bomber if you have the arm speed. It's one of the best disc golf drivers Innova has to offer when it comes to maximum distance! The understability also makes it easier to use for beginners!

Most players should be able to release it flat for a massive turnover, and hyzer flip it for that neutral turn and fade. You can also try out a Shryke and a Katana for a touch more speed!

Read our Tern flight review here.

Mamba - Very Understable Distance Driver

Flight Numbers - 11 | 6 | -5 | 1

[product=innova-star-mamba]

[/product]

The Mamba is one understable distance driver! Use it for long turnovers that don't come back when your sidearm can't cover the distance! It's also a great disc for throwing max-distance rollers!

Read our Mamba flight review here.
